From a debut at the Ironman 70.3 to the World Championship Agegroup Ironman 70.3 in Finland!

In 2019 I did my first triathlon: an eighth triathlon in Staphorst.
In 2019 I did my first triathlon: an eighth triathlon in Staphorst.
Like many others, I bought a few elastic laces and picked a trisuit from Marktplaats. I didn't have a time trial bike, so I just cycled on a racing bike.
Due to an injury to my shin after my first triathlon race, I could hardly run for almost a year, so I mainly cycled and swam.
The next triathlon was in 2021: a quarter in Vathorst. Here I scored first place among the women recreational. This left me wanting more! The following year I purchased a time trial bike to make more profit from cycling.
June 4, 2023 I made my debut at the half triathlon in Nieuwkoop. During this competition I was able to test my new trisuit from PERFORM and I really liked it! What a difference compared to the trisuit I bought from Marktplaats a few years ago.
I didn't manage my sports nutrition properly and ran the half marathon on a few pieces of banana. Despite that, very satisfied with a finishing time of 04:50!
Three weeks later I finished first in my age group during the Ironman 70.3 in Hoorn, qualifying for the 2023 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Finland!
The coming weeks will therefore mainly focus on the preparations for Finland. This means covering a lot of meters in the swimming pool and endurance rides with tempo blocks on the bike.
To prevent injuries from running, I actually train this discipline very minimally. For me, the most important thing remains to have fun in the sport.
Training together with people around me is also one of the best things about triathlon!
