Triathletes have specific requirements for the right cycling shoe for racing use. The shoes are ideally very stiff and are easy to put on due to a simple, or complete lack of, Velcro closures or BOA mechanism. To get the shoe perfect, there is a longer tab at the back that can be held in place or through which an elastic band can be passed, so that the shoes remain stabilized on the bicycle during the change from swimming to cycling.
