XLAB started in 1993 while also running a large triathlon and road shop in Encinitas called NYTRO, which was sold in 2007. San Diego is considered the mecca of triathlon in the USA. Candice still trains for her triathlons in Mission Bay and the family actually lives on the famous Pro training route through Del Dios Highway and Lake Hodges. XLAB couldn't be better centered in triathlon than here in San Diego.
The difference is that most of the competitors simply get the products pre-packed from Asia. XLAB doesn't think this guarantees the highest quality, so they don't take this shortcut.
