What is a Keto diet?

The Keto diet is characterized by a high consumption of fats. While you usually get 30% of your calories from fats, with the ketogenic diet you get no less than 75% to 80%. The amount of protein you eat remains virtually the same at 15%. It is the carbohydrates that are eliminated with this diet. And this takes some getting used to, since many endurance athletes always focus on carbohydrates.

An athlete who eats low-carb/keto burns fat and no longer has to rely on available carbohydrates. This is because the body will switch from burning sugar to burning fat. If the body uses fat reserves, it has greater endurance. There is also no limit to the production of ketones from body fat; it can go on indefinitely. The well-known 'man with the hammer' is therefore a thing of the past. Ideal you would say!
